We are an international research group working with plants (sesame, oilseed rape, maize and roses) and fungi (Fusarium spp., Verticillium spp., truffle fungi, Gliocladium sp.) with focus on the role of secondary metabolites in biotic interactions. The compounds we study are mycotoxins of Fusarium, phytohormones in plant-fungus interactions, xylem metabolites of Brassica and root exudates of roses. Ramifications of this work extend to the biological detoxification of mycotoxins and development of molecular diagnostic assays and biosensors.
