We are an international research group studying the role of secondary metabolites in biotic interactions of fungi (Fusarium spp., Verticillium spp., truffle fungi, Gliocladium sp.) with other organisms. Secondary metabolites that we investigate are mycotoxins and other fungal products, phytohormones, xylem metabolites and plant root exudates. Ramifications of this work extend to biological detoxification of mycotoxins and to the development of molecular diagnostic assays, biosensors and volatile biomarkers.
