Establishment of techniques

The power of a model system critically depends on the techniques that are available to analyse gene function. In order to broaden the scope of the model Tribolium castaneum, we have established heat shock mediated and Gal4/UAS based gene misexpression techniques. Further, we are contributing to the development of imaging lines and tools for clonal analysis. Currently, we coordinate the re-annotation of the genome by transcriptome analysis. Further, we are establishing a system to screen for novel Gal4 driver lines by random insertional mutagenesis.
