The emphasis of medical education in Germany lies in the imparting of theoretical knowledge. During their clinical studies, medical students increasingly have to deal with the major problem of how to gain experience in clinical practice and learn the relevant skills. With this in mind, an online guide is being developed as a teaching aid demonstrating basic skills in surgery to accompany the existing curriculum.

As it will take some time to translate the complete Online Guide into English, we are only able to present an English contents page for the time being. This provides overview of the subjects embedded videos available in the Guide. Quick Time® is required in order to play back the videos, which may be downloaded free of charge from numerous places online. We have provided different file compressions for the various standard internet connection speeds, LAN, DSL and ISDN/Modem.
